Yesterday afternoon as I was working in the store preparing for being open for business today (Friday) from 1 to 8 and tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 to 4 – I kept muttering to myself, “It doesn’t even look like the same place.  Wow!”.  Before you judge me for talking to myself – think about all the things you’ve said while driving – alone in the car – and your not on your hands-free cellular devise.  Thought so.

Random tangent – there once was a time when you would see someone driving or in a public place who was completely alone and talking a mile a minute and you’d widen your eyes and keep some extra space between the two of you.  Now there are so many people driving by themselves yakking their heads off that I sometimes feel like a loser because I don’t have some urgent business to attend to – or a friend to chat with -  every second of every day!  Really?  You need to talk to someone on the phone at 6:30 a.m.?  Really?

The reason the store looks so different is due to five donated light fixtures which were installed by two amazing electricians who donated their time.  Yep, you read that correctly – all the new lighting cost zero dollars and zero cents.

And what a difference!  It’s crazy light in the store and you can SEE!  You know the section towards the office furniture which has always been rather dingy and dark and you could never really tell what color things were unless they were super bold and bright?  Now you could tell tan from sand from beige from toasted marshmallow from gingersnap (got those last two from the Benjamin Moore color chart!).  Seriously – there’s a lot of light now.  It’s amazing and marvelous!

“So, what’s under all this great new lighting that I wouldn’t have seen last week, Susan?” you ask.  Let’s take a look!

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.  God saw that the light was good. (Genesis 1:3-4a)

Light – good for creation and good for furniture shopping!
